The Ghana Twitter league, known as the Soccabet Pro League (SPL) for sponsorship reasons, is an Amateur Football League consisting of 9 teams.
Established in January 2022 by three friends on Twitter, namely Joseph Cleland-Okine, Oliver Amponsah Okyere and Raymond Nii Amartey, the SPL seeks to unearth talents in the country, promote unity amongst people from different backgrounds and most importantly to give back to society.
The league will be played within a period of 6 months (starting 13th February 2022) with 8 teams facing each other on every Match day, leaving a team out each game week.
Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, goal difference, and goals scored accordingly.
At the end of each season, the club with the most points is crowned league champion. Winners will receive extraordinary packages.
The Best player of the tournament, Top goal scorer and Best Goalkeeper will also receive individual accolades.
Each team is made up of 25 players, 2 coaches and a medical team.
To be eligible for participation in this competition, an individual is supposed to meet certain criteria (for instance, they must have an active Twitter account with at least 200 followers).
