The UEFA Super Cup is back, and this time Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt will be competing for it.
After defeating Liverpool in the Stade de France in Paris earlier this year, the Spanish team earned the right to represent Europe in the 2021–2022 Champions League.
In Seville’s Stadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Eintracht won the Europa League championship by defeating Rangers. The score was tied at 1-1, but the Bundesliga team prevailed 5-4 in penalties.
The two teams haven’t played each other in a competitive match since the 1960 European Cup final. That match was won by Real Madrid 7-3 at Glasgow’s Hampden Park.
Finland’s Helsinki Olympic Stadium is the site of the game. It is the first time that Finland has hosted a UEFA club championship final.
According to previous reports, Carlo Ancelotti will not start players who joined the team this summer like Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni because he prefers the players who won the tournament to compete in the championship game.
The German team will not be taking Filip Kostic with them because he is about to join Juventus of Italy.
