The Ghana Police Service has released a public statement concerning the recent chaotic occurrences in the Parliament house.
Last Monday, during deliberations on the E-Levy proposal in Parliament, things heated up amongst MPs giving rise to violent scenes to the level where jabs were thrown.
This led to people questioning the peace-keeping body of the country, Ghana Police Service.
The Ghana Police Service released a statement on Tuesday as response to such critics.
In the statement, The Police Service insisted that their peace-keeping duties are outside the jurisdictions of the Parliament house.
The statement signed by ACP Kwesi Ofori, the director general, public affairs of the police emphasized that the Marshal and his officers are in charge of maintaining law and order at the law-making house.
However, the police asserted that they would look to work with the Marshal and parliamentary authorities to put in place measures to curb and prevent any of such occurrences.
